Veni, Vidi, Vici translates to I came I saw I conquered. these are the words that come to mind when I think about the spectacle of events that took place for the duration of the annual Steven Pienaar Community Tournament Finals weekend and I have no doubt that I'm not the only one who feels this way.

As a whole the event never fails to disappoint, on the contrary it exceeds expectations every year and this year was no different. The players, The crowd, The disk jockeys, The match officials and anyone else I have not mentioned have a lot to be proud of because they hosted this tournament together as a collective.

All the teams that enter the tournament enter it with one intention, to emerge victorious and walk away crowned the champions. Though there can only be one winner and one loser in this case I believe everyone is a winner because everyone that attends this tournament leaves having learnt a lesson whether it be on the field or off the field.

In the end it was down to two teams, Strokes FC from Eldorado Park (Eldos) and Poniyek United from Westdene. It was an uphill push for both teams since both teams are very strong but in the end it was Strokes FC who emerged the Victor and walked away with the cash prize of R60 000.

Apart from the soccer the crowd was also entertained by a local gymnastics squad.

If the field could talk it would have thousands of stories to share about the beautiful game.

As always the crowd came out in their numbers in support of the tournament and it was as the younger generation would say "LIT" meaning it was on fire.

These are the people that made it all possible

On behalf of the Westbury Community I would like to thank everyone who took part in or had any involvement in the Steven Pienaar Tournamenmt 2016.
